Contain is a design studio and manufacturer of handcrafted high-quality lighting made in sunny Mallorca and working worldwide. Mauricio Obarrio and Juan Peralta started CONTAIN, their lighting and furniture design studio. This collection is the result of the collaboration between their studio, local artisans and the industrial sector; where creativity and simplicity creates a unique synergy and generates a narrative between the materials used and the pieces created. 

 

Mauricio Obarrio and Juan Peralta have always been fascinated by the craftsmanship and the interaction between craftsman and designer, they aim to promote a dialogue within (and beyond) the Mallorcan workers. They love to work with local workers, that’s why we use blown glass from Gordiola, a local glass factory with more than 300 years of history and experience

 

They work with recycled materials, as 3D printed technology with PLA (polylactic acid or polylactide), which is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources. Nowadays, PLA has the second highest consumption volume of any bioplastic in the world. 

 

Because every customer and every project is different they like to customise the finishes, the type of the stone, the color of the structure, making every piece special and unique, designing new combinations for every project.
