Charlene Mullen
Charlene Mullen is a London-based designer of textiles and accessories. She has over 15 years’ experience in the fashion industry as a freelance designer of textiles for clients including Dolce&Gabbana and Karl Lagerfeld. Designs vary from decorative and ordered recreations of scientific structures to figurative designs with an illustrative feel and humorous narrative. Intricate embroidery creates a contemporary yet deeply personal feel. In 2007, Matthew Hilton commissioned her to produce two ranges of furnishings for the launch of his eponymous brand at 100% Design. This led Mullen to create her own collection for which she was shortlisted as Best Newcomer at 100% Design in 2008. In 2010 she completed a commission for the Lord Mayor of London, designing a cushion for him to present as a gift to dignitaries and embassies around the world.
